Homestead: Jewelry Funtimes

14 Oct

I made some necklaces!! It’s nothing fantastic, but I think it’s cool because I’d bought these cool beads at Michaels ages ago, and I didn’t know how to make them into real life necklaces. But turns out my work buddy Mary Beth (who actually works across the street from me now instead of four cubicle rows away from me) makes jewelry in her spare time, and she hooked me up with some knowledge!!

These are the beads, all necklaced up! Pretty, huh? The orange ones look like candy.

The beads are just the kinds on strands that are on that stand at Michaels. They’re called “Bead Gallery.” I got some wire, but I forget what kind, sorry! The hook, clasp, and clamping beads are all part of the “Sterling Elegance” line. I don’t know if this is a good kind or not; I just got whatever because I don’t know what I’m doing!

A close-up of the hook and little lobster claw clasp and the crimping beads. I think one od the crimping beads cracked, but I will reclamp it and hope for the best!

I don’t have any jewelry tools, so my boyfriend Tim let me borrow the needle-nose pliers that he keeps in his bass case. They pretty much did the trick. Thanks sweetie!

I was gonna post pics of me wearing the necklaces to give an idea of what they look like on, but staring at multiple pics of my chest was weirding me out, so I deleted them. So you’ll have to trust me that they really look like necklaces!
